The 142 km stage ran from Paestum to Naples with one minor climb and a rising cobbled section into Piazza del Plebiscito. Rain made the technical, cobbled finale slippery. Davide Ballerini won the sprint in a chaotic finale that saw several riders crash in the last turns, including Jonathan Milan and Dylan Groenewegen. Afonso Eulálio kept the maglia rosa; Paul Magnier remained points leader.
